In this itinerary, a couple in their mid-60's celebrate their anniversary in Loudoun with shopping, local dining and leisure activities

Visit Morven Park and explore the grounds, gardens and wooded trails of this 1,000-acre gem. The home of Westmoreland Davis, farmer and governor of Virginia from 1918-1922, the property showcases Davis’ Greek Revival-style mansion, boxwood gardens and expansive lawns.

For lunch, make your way to King Street, downtown Leesburg’s “restaurant row”, where there are more than a dozen cafes and restaurants to choose from. We recommend the historic Leesburg Diner, founded in 1865, which serves a superb range of burgers, salads and sandwiches in a setting reminiscent of a 50s movie.

After lunch, walk a few doors up the street to enjoy the decadent chocolate and wine tasting at Leesburg Gourmet. On top of wine and imported Belgian chocolate, the centrally located store sells a range of specialty foods, recipe books and other items.

Talking books, get your reading glasses on and browse the packed shelves of cozy Birch Tree Bookshop on Market Street or search for used books, local authors, first editions and children's books at the ever-inviting Books and Other Found Things on Loudoun Street.

By now you are ready for dinner. Make your way to the evergreen Tuscarora Mill Restaurant, a farm-to-fork favorite in a repurposed former grain mill to enjoy your personalized anniversary menu. Try the fried green tomatoes, crab cakes and a bottle of Loudoun wine.

Top off your evening with a dance lesson for two from Dance King or a celebration cocktail at The Crow’s Nest, Leesburg’s premier rooftop bar. What to order? We suggest an Old Fashioned to go with the stunning old town views. End your night with a stay at Home2 Suites, which opened on the edge of downtown Leesburg in 2023. Enjoy a complimentary breakfast before heading out for the day.

Last stop in Leesburg - Caffe Botega Italiana. Grab a sandwhich then head to Claude Moore Park in Sterling. Home to the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum, this park also includes 11 miles of trails, ponds and picnic areas. Enjoy mouthwatering prosciutto and asiago on fresh focaccia - a perfect picnic sandwich to end your anniversary trip.
