Polo and Prestige

Visit the National Sporting Library & Museum in Middleburg, Virginia, which houses a collection of more than 20,000 literary works and 800 pieces of art. Literature and art come together in the library’s collection of “fore-edge” books. Be sure to ask a librarian what a fore-edge book is!

Grab lunch and spend some time exploring historic Middleburg, which is home to a plethora of charming shops and restaurants. Locals love Market Salamander, The Upper Crust, newly opened King Street Oyster Bar, The Red Fox Inn and Tavern and Red Horse Tavern.

Next up is a tasting at Greenhill Winery & Vineyards. Boasting picturesque views of Loudoun’s countryside, and wines to match, this winery is a sure way to fall in love with Loudoun.

Make your way to Morven Park and tour this historic estate. This Greek Revival property has housed two former governors, Thomas Swan Jr. (MD 1866-1869) and Westmoreland Davis (VA 1918-1922). Following the tour, learn about the game of polo to better understand the evening’s match.

Enjoy dinner at Tuscarora Mill. Known as "Tuskie’s" to locals, the restaurant has earned its reputation through its authentically local experience felt in the ambience and décor, conveyed by the passionate staff and evident in the quality cuisine.

Loudoun County is horse country and what better way to experience this than by seeing the equestrian thrill that is ‘Polo in the Park’ at Morven Park. Grab a glass of wine, enjoy dessert and watch the game with the newfound understanding of this eclectic sport.
