2017 Annual Tourism Award Nominations Are Now CLOSED

Submit your completed entry along with any & all supporting materials and photos, by the deadline of March 9, 2018, using the online submission form at the bottom of the page. We suggest that you contact Visit Loudoun to confirm receipt of your nomination form. Visit Loudoun is not responsible for nominations not received by the deadline.

After clicking on the nomination form link below, follow these directions:

  • click on the download arrow in the upper right hand corner--if you do not download and save before filling out the nomination, the document will not be saved and you will lose your information.
  • save the nomination form to your computer desktop or other file folder
  • use the saved file as the nomination to fill out
  • submit your nomination using the submission form at the bottom of this page

When saving your nomination form please use the following format “award name”_”nominee name”.  Please note that all entry materials become the property of Visit Loudoun and may not be returned. Tourism Manager of the Year
This category recognize that our employees in management make a difference and contribute to our tourism destination success. This person is a dynamic and effective leader that inspires their team to provide exceptional service and, in doing so, gives back to the industry as a whole. The evaluation and criteria should include as many of the following as possible:

  • How the manager inspires their team.
  • What makes this manager effective in promoting tourism?
  • Letters, comments or reviews from customers complimenting the employee.

#LoveLoudoun Ambassador of the Year
This category recognize that our tourism industry employees make a difference and contribute to our tourism destination success. This person is someone who has been recognized in online customer reviews for providing superior customer service, ensuring visitors and residents alike “Love Loudoun.” The evaluation and criteria should include as many of the following as possible:

  • What makes this nominee a great tourism ambassador?
  • ​How did this nominee go beyond performance expectations?
  • Letters, comments or reviews from customers complimenting the employee

Tourism Volunteer of the Year
This category recognizes the contribution that volunteers make in the tourism industry whether at a historic site, an event, as a member of one of the boards affiliated with a tourism related organization, or some other volunteer opportunity in the tourism industry. The evaluation and criteria should include as many of the following as possible:

  • The significance of the volunteer contribution to the success of the tourism program.
  • The type of contribution, i.e. leadership, in-kind services, time contribution, etc.
  • The duration of service; did the individual volunteer for 3 days, 3 months, or 3 years?

Tourism Annual Event of the Year
This category recognizes an event that has occurred in at least two of the last 3 consecutive calendar years (or longer); has significant community support and partnership; can demonstrate year-over-year growth, visitor spending and/or overnight rooms; and was effectively promoted to out-of-county visitors. The evaluation and criteria should include as many of the following as possible:

  • The lasting benefit the event had on the community such as a positive economic impact, an improvement to the community, or an improvement in quality of life for Loudoun's residents.
  • The community support & partnership.
  • The number of overnight rooms generated in local hotels, bed and breakfasts, and inns as a result of the event.
  • The promotion of the event to out-of-county visitors in terms of creativity, effectiveness, and results.

Tourism NEW Event of the Year
This category recognizes a first-time event that had significant community support and partnership; that attracted visitors to Loudoun County and/or its incorporated towns; can demonstrate visitor spending and/or overnight rooms; and was effectively promoted to out-of-county visitors.The evaluation and criteria should include as many of the following as possible:

  • The level of community support through volunteers, corporate sponsorships, and civic group participation.
  • The positive value of the event to the customer in terms of the event as a whole, entertainment, length of time to experience the event, desire to attend multiple days (if applicable), and cost per ticket.
  • The number of overnight rooms generated in local hotels, bed and breakfasts, and inns as a result of the event.
  • The promotion of the event to out-of-county visitors in terms of creativity, effectiveness, and results.

Tourism Marketing Promotion/Campaign of the Year
Entries in this category may include marketing, promotion, and/or public relations promotions and campaigns. This category recognizes creativity, innovation, clearly stated objectives and how those are measured, and the demonstrated results from the program. The evaluation and criteria should include as many of the following as possible:

  • The stated objectives and anticipated results.
  • The creative design, innovation of the program, and message.
  • The implementation process.
  • The results from the program; did it reach the targeted audience?

Tourism Action Award of The Year

This category recognizes The tourism industry individual or organization that made an outstanding contribution aiding and assisting others. The evaluation and criteria should include as many of the following as possible:

  • The significant impact serving others in need of furthering a cause.
  • Who or what benefited from the action and how.
  • What makes the individual or organization and their/its efforts exceptional.

“Back-of-House Hero” of the Year
This award recognizes those professionals who may not interact directly with visitors but are the heart and soul of our industry; ensuring a seamless experience. The evaluation and criteria should include as many of the following as possible:

  • What makes the nominee a “Back-of-House Hero”? (Going beyond performance expectations, etc.)
  • The length of service of the nominee.
  • Role of the nominee with the organization.
