OverviewAn eighth generation family home on 520 acres located 1 hour west of Washington and 6 miles west of Middleburg in the Piedmont Hunt Country. The main house dates from 1770 with additions as late as 1870. The house is a Virginia Historic Landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Welbourne has 5 main guest rooms with wood-burning fireplaces and private baths. Three have Queen canopy beds. There are an additional three smaller attached rooms for children which share baths. A hearty Southern breakfast of eggs, bacon or sausage, grits, fried tomatoes or apples, and biscuits is served at the dining room table. All the common rooms are open to guests, in addition to a covered back porch with plenty of rocking chairs. A feeling of faded elegance pervades. Cocktails are served every evening at 6:30 in the Parlour (on the back porch in the summer). The farm is a retired horse-boarding operation and guests are free to roam the property. Child and dog friendly!
