OverviewThe Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area is a unique region of the Virginia Piedmont named for Confederate Colonel John S. Mosby who harried Union troops during the Civil War. The The Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area Association produces self-guided historic driving tours (brochures, CDs, and tapes) and a map that details over 300 years of history. Each is an introduction to quaint villages, stone-fenced farms, tree-lined byways, and magnificent vistas. The association also produces annual interpretive programs, lectures, and a Civil War Conference.
