Famous for its antique emporiums, little Lucketts on a northern stretch of Route 15, is bursting with eclectic treasures at its roadside vintage stores, while all around, from the Potomac River in the east to tumbling hills in the west, are grain fields, vineyards, wineries, breweries and farm stores stocked with bountiful fresh produce.
Must Do:
Antiquing
From tumbledown, multi-story curiosity shop Old Lucketts Store to the vintage home décor of Rust & Feathers, Lucketts is an American picker’s dream.
Farm Markets
This is fertile farmland and there are multiple stalls at which to pick up fresh local produce. Loudounberry Farm & Garden sells the juiciest plums, peaches and tomatoes, as well as meats and ice cream, while big name chef Rich Rosendale’s Roots 657 Café & Local Market serves local produce, baked goods and hearty meals, including burgers, succulent BBQ and tasty soups.
Wine Tasting
Fabbioli Cellars, beloved farm vineyard and tasting room of veteran vintner Doug Fabbioli, is a Lucketts – and Loudoun – icon. What to try? The zesty new-world style 2016 Barbera holds true to its traditional Italian heritage.
Beer Run
Don’t miss a visit to Vanish Farmwoods Brewery – Jonathan Staples’ popular tap room on his 53-acre Black Hops Farm where the crisp lagers and hoppy IPAs come with live music and smoked BBQ. For a more intimate setting, jump to the other side of Route 15 and visit family and dog-friendly Barnhouse Brewery.
