Travel Journalists' Guidelines

Visit Loudoun is committed to assisting media and will do our best to accommodate requests. Journalists seeking assistance must contact Visit Loudoun at least three weeks prior to a visit. Visit Loudoun asks that members of the media provide any assignment details and two clips that were published within the last 12 months.

For independent bloggers, please be prepared to share statistics about your monthly blog/website reach and numbers for your social media channels. A blog/website must reach a minimum of 10,000 unique visitors monthly for Visit Loudoun to secure any comps or discounted rates.

Visit Loudoun can provide suggested itineraries or help arrange visits to wineries, breweries, historic sites and other attractions in Loudoun. Visit Loudoun can also secure interviews and provide images for publication.

Depending on the nature of the assignment, Visit Loudoun can assist with accommodations or work to secure a media rate.  Please note that assistance with overnight stays is not always feasible and is based on availability at our resorts, hotels and B&Bs. Visit Loudoun can also assist with meals, though the number covered will depend on length of stay and assignment.

Journalists are responsible for their own transportation to and from Loudoun, which is conveniently located just 25 miles from Washington, D.C.  Loudoun is also home to Dulles International Airport. Once in Loudoun, Visit Loudoun can possibly support transportation upon arrival. Or, depending on assignment, there are opportunities to work with local transportation partners.

If traveling with a partner or children, please let Visit Loudoun know during your initial request. Discounts to attractions, complimentary experiences and meals are not guaranteed to be covered for guests of journalists.
