In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Virginia is for Lovers brand, Loudoun will be home to more than a dozen events such as movie nights, farm experiences, concerts and festivals between June and August that are inspired by the people, events, music and iconic moments of 1969.

Hop in the vintage van and practice holding up your peace signs, things are about to get groovy in Loudoun!

Dairy Day

In honor of Dairy Month, hang out with members of the local dairy industry, befriend cows and calves, enjoy ice cream with a Virginia Dairy Princess and blast to the past to learn about the history of dairy in Loudoun County. “Cheese” Louise, we can’t wait to celebrate!


Strawberry Fields Forever

Nothing is real… except our love for one of everyone’s favorite gifts from Mother Nature — strawberries! Indulge in fresh berry picking and fun activities for the whole family. Tying in this Beatles classic, this event will highlight our amazing local produce offerings while providing a true fun-on-the-farm experience for attendees!


Woodstock in the Gap

Take a step back in time and celebrate fifty years of love with groovy-themed music, movies and costumes! The party starts on Friday evening with an Eat, Drink & Be Literary event, featuring a farm-to-table community dinner under the stars and a talk on the impact of the music of the 1960s. Join us Saturday for the festival and “Summer of Love” kick-off celebration, featuring local musicians, food, craft beverage and artisan vendors. Now, you can finally say, “I went to Woodstock!” *Please note that attending the Community Dinner (Friday) requires an admission fee and that products from Saturday's vendors will require purchase.*


Fitness on the Plaza

“Suburb The Musical” Tailgate Party

Educational Panel Discussion on Loving v. Virginia followed by Flower Power Crown Crafting

A day dedicated to love and creativity? Count us in! The Loudoun Freedom Center will lead an informative panel discussion on the history and impact of the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision to allow interracial marriages via the case of Loving v. Virginia. Join us after at the Waterford Corner Store for fun flower power crown crafting!


The Love Bug Movie Screening & VW Car Rally

Lovettsville Town Green - Walker Pavilion

Calling all VW enthusiasts to B.Y.O.B. (Bring your own Bug) for a car rally in the town square! Stay for a screening of 1968’s “The Love Bug” movie, beginning at dusk at the Walker Pavilion. There may even be an appearance by Herbie the Love Bug himself!


Town of Leesburg 4th of July Parade

Start the holiday by showing love for our country at the annual Independence Day Parade, held through Historic Downtown Leesburg beginning at 10 am. The parade will start at Ida Lee Park, travel down King Street and conclude at Fairfax Street.


Town of Middleburg 4th of July Celebration

Continue the fun at the 4th of July celebration at the Middleburg Community Center! Activities, food and fireworks will be provided with the parade kicking off at 6pm. Stick around for a Yankee doodle dandy ol’ time!

Follow the tour bus to our stop at one of Loudoun’s most iconic antique stores. With tents and buildings full of rustic, hip finds, this truly is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Purcellville Wine and Food Festival

Savor the flavors of summer at the Purcellville Wine and Food Festival! Enjoy good food, great wine and even better company! Wineries and vineyards will be sampling a wide array of varietals helping you taste and learn about each one. DC 101 Thirstday on the LoCo Ale Trail

The soundtrack to our Summer of Love is rock ‘n roll, baby! Join Roche and DC101 for a Thirstday live broadcast at Ocelot Brewing Company in Dulles, VA. Try their latest craft brews on tap and come hang with Roche from DC’s Alternative Rock Radio Station. Don’t forget to collect a stamp on your LoCo Ale Trail Beer Passport!


Demonstrations & Guided Tours

Aldie Mill Historic Park
July 21st — 12:00pm - 5:00pm

Built between 1807 and 1809, the Aldie Gristmill was once the largest factory of its kind in Loudoun County - talk about a blast from the past! Don’t miss this chance to see the mill’s 200 year old waterwheels back in action with grinding and groovin’ demonstrations and guided tours of this iconic site.


Polo in the Park – Lilly Pulitzer Themed Night

On the Summer of Love tour, we rock only the brightest colors: tie-dye by day and Lilly by night! In the 1960’s, Lilly Pulitzer’s brand started catching attention with bright colors and celebrity endorsements, including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. As a resident of Middleburg, Jackie was known for her interest in equestrian events — so, on July 27th, Polo in the Park will be Lilly Pulitzer-themed to pay tribute to the iconic brand and former first lady, all while enjoying a riveting match of polo on a sweet summer evening! *Please note that attending Polo in the Park requires an admission fee.*


Community Camp Out

Algonkian Regional Park
August 3rd — 4:00pm - 9:00am

Who could resist an opportunity to sleep beneath the stars?! Immerse yourself in nature with a guided hike before settling into your tents for the evening. Registration for overnight camping is $10/person, but everyone is welcome to join for the earthy activities! Please remember to bring all your own camping supplies. Tree-hugging most definitely encouraged. *Please note the $10 per camper charge for overnight stays.*


Peach Daze Fuzztival

August means it’s prime peach-picking time in Loudoun! This stop is at Great Country Farms’ famous Peach Daze Fuzztival. The Fuzztival includes a peach pancake breakfast, peach eating contest, family water games and live music.
