Tourism & Hospitality Relief Fund
The Visit Loudoun Foundation launched the Loudoun Tourism & Hospitality Relief Fund and asks businesses and individuals contribute in support of Loudoun’s tourism industry professionals impacted by shutdowns and furloughs as a result of COVID-19.
Working in tandem with the Community Foundation’s Emergency Relief Fund, the Loudoun Tourism & Hospitality Relief Fund will provide grants to charitable organizations that provide direct financial support for individuals who are working in—or have immediately formerly worked in Loudoun tourism and hospitality businesses facing hardship.

- What are some examples of a tourism and hospitality professional?
Examples include but are not limited to:
“Back of the House” employees: those professionals who may not interact with visitors or guests on a regular basis, like those who work in kitchens or housekeeping; those who are involved in the production of agricultural product used in Loudoun restaurants, tasting rooms and farm stands; brewers, wine or cider makers or distillers; as well as wedding and special event vendors like florists, bakers and makeup artists.
“Front of the House” employees: those how work directly with visitors like servers and tasting room professionals; front-desk as well as event and meeting personnel; musicians, catering staff and transportation drivers; tour guides, museum and attraction staff; as well as retail and farm stand professionals.
- Can businesses apply for these funds?
This funding is only available to individuals who are working in—or have immediately formerly worked in—Loudoun tourism and hospitality businesses.
- Where is the funding coming from?
The 501c-3 Visit Loudoun Foundation seeded the fund with $10,000 and has launched a community fundraising campaign. The Loudoun Chamber Foundation has launched a $5,000 pledge match campaign and the Community Foundation will simultaneously provide funding from their Community Emergency Relief Fund.
- What is the initial fundraising goal?
We will begin dispersing funds when we hit a $25,000 threshold but the fundraising campaign will continue and we will disperse all funds received as long as there is need.

The Community Foundation will serve as the fund steward, ensuring each donation is tracked and held for the Visit Loudoun Foundation Tourism & Hospitality Fund.
The Community Foundation has established strategic partnerships with Loudoun Cares and Loudoun Catholic Charities that will function as one agency to provide services and assistance to qualified applicants.

The Community Foundation of Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, Leesburg, Grows Community Giving through community-based grantmaking, partnership building, and leadership initiatives.
Loudoun Cares provides emergency financial assistance helping to avoid utility disconnection, eviction, help with car repair, and more.
Catholic Charities, Leesburg: provides a variety of services including food pantry, emergency financial assistance, mental health counseling for individuals, couples and families through their Family Services Program.
