An eighth generation family home on 520 acres located
one hour west of Washington and six miles west of the town of Middleburg in the Piedmont Hunt Country. The main house dates from 1770 with additions as late as 1870. The house is a Virginia Historic Landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Welbourne has 5 main guest rooms with wood-burning fireplaces and private baths. A hearty Southern breakfast of eggs, bacon or sausage, grits, fried tomatoes or apples, and biscuits is served at the dining room table. All the common rooms are open to guests in addition to a covered back porch with plenty of rocking chairs. A feeling of faded elegance pervades. Cocktails are served every evening at 6:30pm in the Parlour (on the back porch in the summer). The farm is a retired horse-boarding operation and guests are free to roam the property.
