The Corner Store is run by the Waterford Foundation to support local artisans and also acts as a visitor education center with information about Waterford’s history and involvement in the historical events of our country.
All year long a full selection of crafts made by local artisans are available. Many of these unique craft items are from the juried artisans who exhibit at the Waterford Foundation's annual fair. For visitors, it’s a great place to take a break and chat with friendly neighbors. You can even have a cup of cool water, tea or coffee, and a cookie.
The store is brimming with special items, all made by local artisans, including: folding tables in beautiful woods, hand-knit hats and scarves, hand-rolled beeswax candles, handmade jewelry, pewter table accessories, turned wood bowls, bottle stoppers, fused glass bowls and trays, handmade ornaments, pottery and porcelain bowls and cookware, painted floorcloths, embroidered dishtowels, woven wool throws and table runners, hand-printed cards and notecards, and a great selection of local history books.
Plus we have locally produced jams, jellies, pickles, elderberry tea, honey and maple syrup.
The store is run by volunteers for the Waterford Foundation in its efforts to preserve the historic buildings and open spaces of the National Historic Landmark District of Waterford, Virginia, and, through education, to increase the public’s knowledge of life and work in an early American rural community.
