Join the Black History Committee as we share what resources the library has that identifies Loudoun’s historic African American sites and stories. This year’s celebration will feature the preservation efforts of the Friends of the Arcola Slave Quarters (FASQ).
Led by local historian Arlean Hill, FASQ’s mission is to advocate for the preservation and restoration of the historically significant Arcola Slave Quarters to educate the public about the rich African American heritage in Loudoun County.
Learn how the FASQ also advocated for the preservation of the Settle Dean Cabin located in South Riding and how community oral histories and extensive genealogical research conducted by FASQ members has resulted in a preservation success story in the making.
