Happy Anniversary

Lovettsville Oktoberfest

Quick — how many pints make up a {quart}er-century of Oktoberfests? Find out for yourself this weekend at Lovettsville’s 25th Annual Oktoberfest! Toast the town’s German roots with the finest amber ales this side of the Atlantic.

At Friday’s Preview Night, make your beer belly very happy with a German dinner at the Lovettsville Community Center and the opening of the Beer Garden at the Main Tent. Then, join in a rousing chorus of Bohemian Rhapsody in an attempt at a world record-setting sing-along. Belt it out so loud, they hear you in Munich!

On Saturday, load up on a hearty pancake breakfast before lining up for lagers. As soon as the kegs have been tapped, tap your feet along to Bavarian music and dance performances by day and 80s hits from “The Reagan Years” by night. Whether you’re savoring traditional German treats or shopping your way through the 100+ art, crafts and service vendors, we can promise that you’ll enjoy an Oktoberfest so authentic it surpasses Reinheitsgebot standards. Whatever you do, don’t miss the chance to cheer on your favorite little bratwurst at the wiener dog races.

50 West

Third year’s the charm for 50 West Vineyards! They’ve planned a whole “birthday weekend” full of great wine and events that you’re all invited to. (Please, no presents. 😅)

Start your weekend sipping on a Friday Night Flight of 2017 Chardonnay, 2017 Albarino and 2017 Vidal Blanc. We bet you won’t be able to resist taking home a bottle or two!

Rock out to: Shane Gamble

Bon appétit à la: The Frenchman Food Truck

Keep your weekend tasteful with a taste of Club Member status on Saturday! Take part in the perks of being a 50 West member, including free reign of the clubhouse. Be one of the first 50 guests to taste in the tasting room, and you’ll be granted half off your tasting!
Get down with: Voo Doo Blues Band

Chow down on: Hammerdown BBQ (plus, cake and an anniversary toast at 3 PM — because it’s not a party without cake!)

If you weren’t one of the first 50 at 50 West on Saturday, Sunday’s your day for that same deal! After you enjoy your half-off tasting, stay for brunch, mimosas and more cake.

Brunch all day by: Bacon & Ed’s Gourmet Kitchen

Bop to the beat: Chris Bone Band

Phase 2

Mark your calendars for the first anniversary of Phase 2 Brewing, this time next year. In the meantime, join the owners in celebrating their Grand Opening on Saturday! Enjoy small-batch beers, great espresso, live music, “steal the glass,” fun surprises and free cake (this is just a weekend of cake, isn’t it? Not that we’re complaining 😋).

Feeling Festive

Temple Hall Maize

Get lost in your love for all things fall at Temple Hall Farm! Friday marks the opening of the famous Fall Festival and a-maize-ing 20-acre Corn Maze. Celebrate a bountiful harvest by bouncing on the giant jumping pillows, witnessing the epic firing of the pumpkin blasters and corn cannons, jamming out to live music and squealing in cheers for the racing pigs. Explore an assortment of awesome autumnal treats at the General Store where you can also find a plethora of pumpkins 🎃 Oh my gourd-ness, we can’t wait!

International Festival

What do Bolivia, Japan, West Africa, Germany, Columbia, Korea, Ireland and Portugal have in common?

All of these worldly destinations, along with many others, will be represented in this weekend’s Fourth Annual Loudoun County International Festival! Expand your horizons as you enjoy live entertainment, cultural demonstrations, shopping, great food from around the world and fun activities for all ages. Our county is beyond proud and grateful be the home of so many beautiful cultures and even more excited to come together, celebrate our diverse identities and share them with the world!

Manhattan Short Film Festival

There’s just something magical about going to the movies ✨ Get that film festival feeling this weekend at Old Ox Brewery! Dress in your best film critic look (e.g., a turtleneck, chunky glasses, and perhaps a beret?), and let your inner movie buff loose at the Manhattan Short Film Festival. Of course, movie night is only truly poppin’ as long as there’s plenty of popcorn on hand! Popcorn Monkey’s got the stuff. Munch on batches of salty, crunchy goodness as you cast your vote for Best Film and Best Actor!  Next stop, Sundance.

Bonus!

Grape Crush

Them: “So, how was your weekend?”

Me: “Crushed it.”

Isn’t that the interaction you want on Monday morning? 😄 We certainly do. That’s why we’ll be front and center at Bluemont Vineyard’s very first “Crush With Us” experience! Celebrate harvest season on the mountain as you step into a barrel and squash grapes in true 'I Love Lucy' style. Make sure to hand a friend your phone before you get to stomping, because this is definitely a moment you’ll want to remember. After you’ve done a grape job in the barrel, create another keepsake by stepping your stained feet on a white "I Stomped at Bluemont Vineyard" t-shirt. Toast a job well done with a splash of a seasonal wine! To really feel the vineyard vibes, stick around to learn all about harvest practices. The Bluemont experts will happily take you from picking to pressing, grapes to fermentation, vine to bottle and everything in between!
