Loudoun County is more than you imagined.

It’s more than 400 years of American history; more than sunrise breakfasts at cozy inns and sunset dinners with Blue Ridge views. Just 25 miles from Washington, DC, Loudoun, VA features 40+ award-winning wineries and tasting rooms, breweries and distilleries, farm-to-table dining, country inns and estates, scenic vistas, rich American heritage and charming small towns. It’s also an abundance of fine goods and craft-made treasures that you can take home every day of the year.

Loudoun County’s history is rich in agriculture, earning the nickname “Breadbasket of the Revolution” for its contributions of grain to George Washington’s Continental Army. Fast-forward to today, Loudoun County retains a strong rural economy with a growing wine industry that has produced several internationally recognized wines.

The mission of Take Loudoun Home is to share and advertise the 1,200+ farms and businesses in Loudoun County. This is a collaborative effort between Loudoun Economic Development and Visit Loudoun to support the Loudoun Made, Loudoun Grown program. Launched in 2015, the program has more than 135 participating farms and rural businesses, all sourcing their products from Loudoun County.

These rural businesses provide families with responsibly-raised meat and fresh produce that was picked in the field that morning. They support a vibrant craft beverage industry, and are home to animals from all six inhabited continents.

Produce bought locally spends less time in transit, giving it more time to ripen, improving its taste and nutritional value. Fresh cut flowers last longer in your home when bought locally. A shorter commute from the farm to the customer also decreases the environmental impact of farming and increases its efficiency.

Loudoun has more wineries and breweries than anywhere else in Virginia, most of which are rooted in agriculture. After enjoying a flight in the tasting room, a bottle of wine or growler of beer makes those memories mobile.

Loudoun County is home to a wide array of products and experiences that can’t be found anywhere else in the Washington, D.C. region and we invite both visitors and locals to take a piece of Loudoun home with them this summer and share it with us using #TakeLoudounHome. This is just one more way that you can #LoveLoudoun!
