JH Breaux Vineyards driving in

With Virginia Wine Month upon us now is the perfect time to get out and explore Loudoun’s 39 wineries and tasting rooms. With so many wineries there’s a variety of experiences to be had for novice wine lovers to experts on all things vino and everyone in between. One of the best ways to explore DC’s Wine Country is through a guided food and wine tour.  And as with our wineries, Loudoun’s many transportation companies offer a range of services.  There are cycling vineyard tours, private limousine tours, bus tours filled with other oenophiles, and customized tours to create your ideal wine country experience. Check out our website for a full list of local providers.

Known for their culinary walking tours, including the Historic Leesburg Food Tour, DC Metro Food Tours’ expert guides bring insight and a focus on food and education to their Loudoun Wine and Food Tour. The tour includes visits to two local wineries complete with wine tastings and local food pairings, vineyard tours, stops in Loudoun’s towns and villages, and a six course small plate meal followed by dessert and coffee. Their guides can either step onto your vehicle or provide transportation for the day.

DiVine Wine Tours’ regularly scheduled themed tours include transportation, an expert guide, behind the scenes and educational components at select wineries,  a full gourmet deli lunch, and photographs from the tour provided to tour guests. These tours are limited to groups of ten, allowing for a more intimate experience. Check out their Storybook Tour featuring three Loudoun wineries and the stories of how they came to be or The Grape Escape with its focus on some of Loudoun’s leading winemakers and vineyard growers.

Looking for a unique way to explore DC’s Wine Country? Trail’s End Cycling Company (located at the end of the W&OD trail in Purcellville) offers guided Cycling Vineyard Tours customized to meet your needs. These tours travel along the scenic backroads of Loudoun  to two or three vineyards and include a gourmet picnic lunch from Magnolias at the Mill, a Loudoun destination restaurant. The tour even includes a support vehicle to accommodate your purchases or you and your bike if the trail gets too long!
