Finally. Spring has officially arrived.
The days are growing longer and warmer, the ground is thawing and filling the air with a warm, sweet scent, and the first signs of new growth are making an appearance. It’s time to brush away winter – from your house to your wardrobe to your spirit. While spring is still new, make some plans to enjoy this time of year. Time flies and before we know it, summer will be fading and winter approaching again. Get out and make some memories now at one of these upcoming Loudoun events. Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Marshmallow Harvest (Apr 4-6) The opportunities for entertainment are endless at Great Country Farms and particularly so during one of their festival weekends. Help harvest the first “crop” of marshmallows, make s’mores from your harvest, hunt for a basket of Easter eggs from the 7,000 eggs hidden on the property, visit the spring chicks, and more. Shakespeare in the 'Burg (Apr 4-6) The charming town of Middleburg is celebrating the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birthday with a weekend long theater festival. Enjoy performances from the renowned American Shakespeare Center, acting and stagecraft workshops, a movie night, and more. Several local restaurants and wineries are also offering themed experiences and pre-theater menus. With the steeplechase and point-to-point season kicking off, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a day of hunt country tradition. Picnic or tailgate in scenic settings during either the Loudoun Hunt Point-to-Point (Apr 13) or the 94th Running of the Middleburg Spring Races (Apr 19). If you’ve got a green thumb or you just want to see Historic Downtown Leesburg in full bloom, check out the Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival (Apr 26-27). Much more than a plant sale, this event fills the historic downtown with over 150 vendors, food, music, a wine garden, children’s activities, and more spring festivities.
