2010_touring-guideWe are excited to tell you that a new, updated third edition of The Touring Guide to Loudoun, Virginia: DC’s Wine Country® has been published. We've made this third edition better than ever, and much more easier to use. It features itinerary-based information on wineries, destination restaurants, and local favorite dining suggestions. With more than 20 wineries spread among five distinct clusters, and several more opening soon, Loudoun County, Virginia is a growing wine destination with a variety of culinary options. This edition includes descriptions of all of the winery tasting rooms and the four wineries and new tasting room opening soon.

And while you're out touring around DC's Wine Country®, you gotta eat right? Well, we've identified the best places here. The Touring Guide incorporates destination dining, defined by the International Culinary Tourism Association as “restaurants that are so interesting, different, or special that people travel just to eat there.” Nine restaurants were selected under the Loudoun Destination Restaurant Program after completing a juried process. All nine restaurants were highly rated in six criteria including providing a quality and unique experience, create a cultural and/or authentic experience, utilize locally grown products, being a local favorite, and serve Loudoun wine. You're sure to have a memorable experience at these nine places. But wait, there's more -- the opportunity to WIN a weekend in Wine Country!

This edition incorporates The Loudoun Wineries Passport Program which encourages visitors and residents to visit CarriageHouse with logomultiple wineries over the course of the calendar year to be eligible for a great prize. Simply have your passport stamped at five of the participating 22 wineries.  That will make you eligible to win the grand prize: a 2-night’s stay at The Goodstone Inn & Estate outside Middleburg, along with a $100 resort credit for dinner at their Destination Restaurant, and a full breakfast and afternoon tea. The Passport Program continues through December 31, 2010. The winner will be chosen at random from the completed passports received by December 31st. So don't hesitate! Get out on the trail today!

The publication also highlights breweries and a distillery, twenty local dining favorites, food and wine events, and more. It will also be available online through VisitLoudoun.org. See you in Wine Country!
