We hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend so much that you’re already planning how you’ll play this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday… Because, here in Loudoun County, the sunny-and-60s weekend weather forecast is giving us that giddy “Out of Office” feeling we all secretly live for! That’s right — we’re officially in autumnal territory up here. We’ve promised ourselves that we’ll make the most of this mild-temp’d mid-October magic with all the indoor and outdoor entertainment we can fit into two and a half days. Who’s with us?!
Virginia is for Live Music Lovers
When it comes to the Loudoun music scene, one thing you can always be sure of is that we’ve got just the ticket. We’re concert groupies to the core because we know it’s equally extraordinary to experience your favorite record performed live as it is to see a new band without expectation, only to be blown away by a surprisingly sweet set. And, from blues to “Latingrass” and rock-n-roll to Irish folk, we’ve got the talent to help you make musical memories this weekend. So, whether you're moved by the mandolin, prefer piano tunes or fangirl for Fenders, your favorite act is up next:
Enjoy the Show
Let the live entertainment continue! (We can’t help it — we just love putting on a show.) Find several forms of non-musical fun right here in Loudoun, like the Fleet Family Five Thrill Show! Come one, come all to this fast-paced, funny and family-friendly spectacle, featuring death-defying daredevil stunts. Marvel at the Fleets as they provide glitter, glamour and gut-wrenching thrills, while 868 Estate Vineyards provides delicious wine and food from The Grill. Prepare to be amazed by sword-swallowing, feats of escape and fire-eating… Arrive early to snag a seat close enough to feel the flames! 🔥🎪
After a good dose of the performing arts, make time for the fine arts with the Pop-Up Art Show: Vineyards, Villages, and Vistas at Sunset Hills Vineyard! For nearly ¾ of a century, the talented members of the Loudoun Sketch Club have sketched, painted and photographed local farms, historic homes, villages and vineyards, documenting the region’s beauty and history in their unique styles. Ogle at all the art in an open house pop-up installation, much of which was produced “en plein air,” while enjoying food from Artemi’s Kitchen and tunes (what did we tell you — live music everywhere!) courtesy of Chris Bone. You may even find yourself compelled to acquire a depiction of our county for your own curated collection!
If “show and tell” is the type of show you prefer, we have two words for you: wine & cheese. From age to age, fromage & vintage remains the most classic of combos… and, for good reason. Wheel over to Willowcroft Farm Vineyards, where the experts will show you a good time with a special Wine & Cheese Pairing — i.e., slices of heaven balanced with the best bottles. Want to find out what happens when you match up five award-winning wines with five gourmet cheeses? You do the math. 🤓
The Great Outdoors
With all the fun going on in Loudoun County, filling up your days off with awesome activities is a walk in the park. Be sure to make time in your weekend wish-list for the "19th Century Landscape" Tour of Morven Park! Explore the gorgeous 1,000-acre, +200-year-old property whose surviving outbuildings and landscape share a great deal of the Loudoun County story. Borrowing from the English private-park style, Morven’s landscape designers fashioned a terraced, enclosed formal garden with loads of massive boxwoods that reflect the dignity and substance of this great estate. Uncover the Park’s past as you stroll through a peaceful, 60-minute guided tour that will provide not only access to locked buildings but also exclusive tips on how to navigate and interpret the historic grounds.
Balance out your weekend with a bit of wine-infused wellness at Yoga in the Vines! Stretch out your Self-Care Sunday at The Wine Reserve at Waterford with an hour of yoga, a glass of wine and continental breakfast. (It would be very tricky to try and top that treat-yourself trifecta!) Enjoy this all-levels, instructor-guided class designed to be fun and challenging while you breathe in the beautiful bucolic scenery. Oh, and don’t forget to BYOM (bring your own mat)!😉
