2014 is coming to a bittersweet end and it seems like everyone is already looking ahead to 2015! But, before we jump into the new year, I want to look back at all that happened in LoCo this year. It has been a great year filled with events, new attractions and announcements of what's to come in DC's Wine Country. I've capture some of the best of 2014 through our most popular social media posts.
1. Facebook: One of the top Facebook posts from 2014 actually came just about a week ago and it's no shocker that everyone
went crazy over the news that Flying Dog Brewery is opening an experimental brewery in Lououn. With the craft brew scene exploding over the past year, having Flying Dog become a part of the LoCo brew family is a great next step. The Flying Dog brewery is set to open summer of 2015, but until then, make sure to stop by some of the other new breweries that you haven't tried yet.
2. Twitter: Trending twitter topics come and go, but some of them have more of an impact that others. In 2014, a huge trend was the starter pack. We decided to create the ultimate "I'm visiting Loudoun" starter pack featuring all of the great things you can expect to
experience while here like delicious wines at places like Doukenie Winery, gourmet meals at Magnolias at the Mill, a relaxing stay at Lansdowne Resort and a whiskey tasting at Catoctin Creek Distillery. Take a trip to Loudoun in 2015 and build your own starter pack. We'd love to see it!
3. Pinterest: The categories on Pinterest are endless, but you can never go wrong pinning about your beautiful wedding or other special day in Loudoun. With the many wineries, beautiful hotels, cozy B&B's and rustic barns there is a setting and vibe fore every bride's vision. This pin was of a peach/coral wedding at Bluemont Vineyard, set up with wine barrels and hanging lights to add that extra touch. I hope you find that someone special in
2015 and begin to plan your perfect day in Loudoun. If you are already planning a wedding, make sure to see our weddings page with all of the information you could need!
4. I knew that with the huge success of Epicurience Virginia this year, it would definitely be one of our most popular social media posts. Our follower's favorite post from 2014 was this
photo collage of the Epicurience Virginia event featuring the giant cork wine bottle, the LOVE letters and the Grand Tasting Pavilion where everyone walked around and tasted delicious wine and food while listening to music. While this was only the second year of the event, it has already seen huge growth and I can't wait to see how it keeps growing next year. Make sure to follow the Epicurience Facebook and Twitter to stay updated and find details for next year's event!
With all of the success and trends in 2014, I cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store for us and to discover what your favorite posts will be. Don't miss out on anything by following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. You won't be disappointed. If you have a favorite post from us that wasn't in this blog make sure to let us know. Happy New Year from us all in Loudoun!
