Uniquely Loudoun Itinerary (3-day)

Day 1 - Loudoun's Suburban Experiences

Begin the day with a visit to the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Dulles. Plan to spend most of the day here to best enjoy what the museum has to offer, including free docent-led tours, an IMAX Theater, the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower, and flight simulators.

Following your visit to the museum, enjoy a little outdoor recreation at the Dulles Golf Center and Sports Park. This complex features miniature golf, a driving range, batting cages, and beach volleyball.

If you would rather exercise your need to shop, this part of Loudoun County offers a variety of shopping experiences ranging from the new and sleek shops found at the Dulles Town Center and the Cascades Marketplace to popular furniture shops such as the Green Front Furniture Store and the Old Mill Furniture Company.

End the day with dinner at the Old Dominion Brewing Company.

Day 2 - Loudoun County's Rural Experiences

Begin the day with a visit to the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum, an interpretive farming complex. Exhibits at the museum tell the stories of the "country people" who laid the foundations for 300 years of farming history in Loudoun County. Walk through the aisles of an early 20th century general store and meet Elevation, the most famous bull in history! If you depart here hungry, stop at Cascades Marketplace with numerous restaurants before you head to Western Loudoun.

Your next stop should be the Loudoun County Visitors Center in Leesburg (simply follow the blue "Tourist Information" signs). We can help you plan your visit to rural sites where you can pick-your-own flowers or produce, and crafts being made, and visit any of Loudoun's twelve wineries. Part of the rural experience includes driving along Virginia's Scenic Byways and through historic towns and villages.

End the day with an elegant "Dinner in the Garden" at Patowmack Farm or an evening at Magnolia's in the Mill in Purcellville.

Day 3 - The County Seat of Leesburg

There is actually so much to see and do in Leesburg that you may need to add one more day to your visit (or plan a return trip)! Begin your Leesburg visit at the Loudoun Museum and learn about the history of Loudoun County and its towns. The museum offers self-guided walking tour books as well as seasonal guided tours for enjoying the history and architecture of the town. As you stroll around town, don't miss the Loudoun County Courthouse which is said to have "an exquisite air of Colonialism". Sites just outside the town limits include Historic Morven Park, Oatlands Plantation, and Balls Bluff Battlefield Regional Park.

Leesburg is a shopper's dream offering antique and specialty shops as well as art galleries and home accent stores. The Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets is home to 110 stores featuring the world's leading designers and brand names. End the day at one of Leesburg's numerous dining establishments that range from home cooking at the Leesburg Restaurant to continental cuisine at Lightfoot Restaurant or Tuscarora Mill.
