"Discovery" is truly the word that best describes the shopping experience in Loudoun County. Each of the towns and villages has its own unique personality and shopping experience.

Middleburg's identity as the heart of the nation's horse and hunt country is particularly reflected by its shop names, such as English Country Classics, The Journeymen Saddlers, and The Christmas Sleigh. Middleburg offers a wide array of unique shopping including tack stores, art galleries, antique stores, and specialty shops.

In Purcellville, the Purcellville Marketplace has long served as a general store with old time atmosphere and unique gifts. Nichols Hardware, one of the oldest hardware stores in the country, still hands out handwritten receipts! In addition, Purcellville's location in the heart of the Loudoun Valleys has attracted a new breed of farmers and craftsmen who produce award-winning wines, fine crafts, and furniture.

Leesburg has an abundance of charm highlighted by its brick sidewalks and historic buildings. Leesburg's historic district features home furnishings, specialty gifts, gourmet foods, and more. The energetic merchants host a variety of events throughout the year, including the ever popular First Friday, an evening event in the shopping district.

Just outside Leesburg is the Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets, a unique outdoor shopping village with over 110 designer and name brand outlets such as Williams-Sonoma Marketplace, Barney's New York Outlet, and Burberry.

Also, not to be missed is the Dulles Town Center, which houses favorite national brands such as Nordstrom, The Bombay Company, Gap, and Abercrombie & Fitch. This regional mall was built using design elements that reflect Loudoun's scenic countryside.

As you journey throughout Loudoun County you will discover gift shops, general stores, and antique shops dotting the countryside. Gifts and handmade items can also be found within gift shops of the area's museums and heritage sites including the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles Airport.
