LCVA Committees & Meeting Schedule

The LCVA has a number of standing committees that serve the organization.  LCVA board members are given committee assignments each year.  LCVA Partners and other qualified individuals may join the Partnership & Program Committee, the Legislative Affairs Committee, the Annual Meeting/Awards Committee, the TOT Review Committee, workgroups, and ad hoc committees.  Anyone is welcome to attend LCVA committee meetings.  For information about joining a LCVA committee, contact Greg Harp, harp@VisitLoudoun.org or 703-771-2170 ext. 14.

Standing Committees

Executive Committee:  It is the duty and power of the Executive Committee to conduct the routine and ordinary business of the Corporation within the policy guidelines and financial plans established by the Board of Directors (unless otherwise provided by law), the Articles of Incorporation, or the LCVA  Bylaws.  The committee is chaired by the LCVA vice chair and includes the officers, standing committee chairs, and one at-large board member, as well as the chief executive officer of the LCVA.

Audit/Human Relations Committee:  It is the policy of the organization to maintain an audit committee consisting of the organization’s treasurer, chief staff executive, board chair, and appointed board members.  The treasurer chairs the committee, ensures corrective action is taken when necessary, and reports on audit committee action to the Board of Directors.  The Audit/Human Relations Committee reviews the quarterly incentive program with the LCVA chief executive officer and makes its recommendations to the full board before any allocation is made.  In the case when personnel matters arise requiring board involvement the committee serves in that capacity.  The Audit/Human Relations Committee may be the Finance or Executive Committees.

Bylaws/Nominations Committee:  This committee reviews the bylaws annually and prepares the slate for board and officer elections whenever needed.  The chair and at least two additional members must be board members, the chief executive officer serves on the committee, and one at-large member from the community may join the committee.

Leadership/Training Committee:  This committee is chaired by an LCVA board member and includes board members and tourism industry representatives.  The committee coordinates programs and industry relations such as the Tourism Awards, hospitality training, and other programming that includes education and recognition.  The committee may design tourism mentor programs to provide coaching for tourism professionals.

Product Development Committee:  This committee uses market research recommendations for product development and other local tourism issues to facilitate and advocate on behalf of the tourism industry the needs for business development, growth, and support.  The committee is chaired by an LCVA board member and includes board members and tourism industry representation.  This committee is made up of subject matter experts that may interact with business leaders and elected officials to provide perspective and expertise.  

Annual Meeting/Tourism Awards Committee:  This committee coordinates the review of the award entries for the LCVA Tourism Awards and assists in the planning and execution of the LCVA Annual Meeting.

Marketing/Sales Committee:  This committee is chaired by an LCVA board member and includes board members and senior level sales and marketing representatives from the tourism industry.  This committee meets regularly to explore marketing and sales programming that the LCVA should lead and coordinate.  The committee divides into market segment sub-groups on an as needed basis to interact with the industry.  This committee serves in an advisory capacity to LCVA marketing plan development and direct sales program implementation.  This committee also serves as the cooperative programming team to assist in maximizing tourism industry participation in marketing and sales activities.

TOT Review Committee:  This committee reviews and makes recommendations for funding support from the Restricted Transient Occupancy Tax Grants Program.  This committee is chaired by an LCVA board member and includes board members and members of the community.  This committee serves as part of a policy adopted by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors regarding the allocation of the grants funding from the Restricted Transient Occupancy Taxes.

Leadership Circle:  This committee meets as needed to gather input and keep former leaders of the LCVA engaged in tourism issues.  This committee is hosted by the immediate past chair of the LCVA.


Workgroups/Ad Hoc Committees

Workgroups and ad hoc committees are established as needed by the LCVA board chair.  The chairs of these groups do not serve on the Executive Committee but may be included in Executive Committee meetings if their program or policy issues are being considered.

Committee Meeting Schedule

The LCVA Board of Directors meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 3:30pm. The location for this meeting changes each month.

The committee meeting schedule varies.  The current meeting schedule is posted in the Visitors Center located at 222 Catoctin Circle SE, Suite 100 in Leesburg.
