SMERF

The SMERF market includes social, military, education, religious, and fraternal organizations.  The LCVA targets sports tournaments, military reunions, religious conferences, and fraternal conferences and reunions in order to increase visitor spending and weekend bookings.  Specifically, the LCVA markets to meeting and event planners in the SMERF market by:

• Conducting sales calls in person, via phone, and through Internet contact
• Attending industry trade shows
• Hosting site visits and familiarization tours
• Keeping close relations with local leaders from clubs and organizations, parks & recreation, equine & event venues, and community contacts
• Communicating with meetings and event publications to increase visibility for Loudoun County through editorial opportunities
• Increasing the number of meeting and event planner subscribers to the LCVA eNewsletter
• Developing service programs that will increase attendance and delegate spending
• Coordinating an outreach program to get LCVA services as the program topic of local club and organization programs to attract their meetings and events
