Visitor Center Host

The Loudoun Convention & Visitors Association is seeking visitors center hosts whose primary role will be to greet and assist visitors as they enter the visitors center.  Knowledge of Loudoun County, excellent written and oral communication skills, basic use of MSWindows, MSOutlook, Internet, MSWord, and motivated self-starter requested.  Pick up an application at the Loudoun County Visitors Center located at 222 Catoctin Circle, SE, Suite 100, Leesburg, VA 20175 (email: Jenkins@VisitLoudoun.org). JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION:   Visitors Center Host
REPORTS TO:   Visitors Center Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:  To provide superior customer service in the Visitors Center and participate in LCVA marketing program implementation.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and assists visitors as they enter the Visitors Center 362 days each year.
  • Responds to visitor inquiries via phone, mail and internet.
  • Conducts market surveys of visitors to determine why they are visiting, what they are planning to do, how they found us, and where they are traveling from.
  • Makes referrals to assist visitors with accommodations, dining, and seeing the attractions.
  • Sells tickets to local events and performances such as the Waterford Fair, garden tours and others.
  • Tracks hotel and B&B availability to ensure that referrals fill Loudoun’s accommodations.
  • Ongoing training in product awareness, customer service, and business tools to enhance productivity and service.
  • Complete projects during daily shifts as assigned.
  • Participate in LCVA programming as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of Loudoun County and the Towns.
  • Awareness of “what’s going on” through newsletters and newspapers.
  • Phone etiquette, transferring calls, placing calls on hold, etc.
  • Understand how to use the copier, postage machine, and fax machine.
  • Basic uses of computers working in MSWindows, MSOutlook Internet, and MSWord, in order to respond to email messages, prepare correspondence, etc.
  • Knowledge of LCVA mission, board members, and Team members.
