Dining in Loudoun County

Loudoun County's dining experiences are so unique, we considered listing them in the attractions section. Loudoun’s dining establishments offer cuisines from around the globe, produce grown on local farms, and settings as elegant as any you'll find to settings that can only be described (in the most complimentary way) as crummy. You'll love telling your friends and family about these places when you get home.

Loudoun County DiningOur rural heritage is embodied in Magnolia's at the Mill in Purcellville where American cuisine is served in a restored mill. It's the perfect place to soak up the rural ambiance of Loudoun (and taste it too!). Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg ("Tuskie's" to the locals) is set in a restored grain mill that Zagat's calls "rustic in a tony way." Lightfoot Restaurant, situated in an elegantly-restored bank building (taste their fried green tomatoes or the favorite meatloaf sandwich), sits across from the majestic county courthouse. In Middleburg, the legendary Red Fox Inn offers savory Virginia fare in a warm historic setting and a tavern-like atmosphere.

For a more casual setting, try the Leesburg Restaurant, a diner in the historic district (don't miss their peanut soup and yummy milkshakes!). In Middleburg, check out the Coach Stop, which serves homemade comfort food and where the person at the next table could be a celebrity or politician.  In Round Hill, dine with the locals at the Round Hill Diner. Some great local brews can be found at Vintage 50 Restaurant & Brew Lounge in Leesburg, which offers pre-arranged tours of the brewery, and at Ashburn's Old Dominion Brew Pub, that offers their legendary fish and chips.

For plush surroundings and tasty food, try the On the Potomac or Stonewalls Tavern at Lansdowne Resort. Stonewalls features a stone fireplace cobbled from a stone wall on the premises (hence its name), and is a cozy place to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

Of course, no visit to Virginia is complete without barbecue. For some award-winning barbecue, visit the Mighty Midget whose motto is: "nobody pulls your pork like we do." Other great places include Partlow's General Store in Ashburn, Famous Dave's in Sterling, or Doc's Barbecue in Aldie.

Mom's Apple PieFor a special treat, stop by for some great pastries at Little Apple Pastry shop in Aldie, Mom's Apple Pie in Leesburg, or Hill High Orchard in Round Hill.

And for something truly unique, check out The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm, which serves elegant five-course meals using produce grown on the farm against a backdrop of rolling hills and the Potomac River.

Bon Apetit!

The best food & atmosphere in Loudoun. Eat there at least 1 a month & have never been disapointed. Great service, which hard to find these days.

We spent Valentines evening at Patowmack Farm. The food was delicious, unique, imaginative, and organic. The service was attentive, warm, funny, knowledgeable, and memorable. The atmosphere was romantic, stunning, and relaxing. Our 5 course meal was paired with wines that made the tastes conversational. What a brilliant experience, but be prepared to spend some time and money while visiting this memorable restaurant.

We love this place. It does not matter if it is lunch, happy hour or dinner, the service is always outstanding and the food is delish! It is obvious that these guys have many years of experience serving a great product at a reasonable price and we are lucky to have them in Loudoun County. Keep up the good work.
